The UK NEQAS Faecal Parasitology Teaching Programme has been set up to complement the educational aspects of the UK NEQAS Parasitology scheme. It challenges and trains laboratory personnel to accurately diagnose the parasitic infections they may come across in their practice. These bench manuals have been produced as companions to the regional courses to make participants fully aware of the diagnostic features used for the identification of parasites of medical importance. Standard text books and other sources would, however, have to be consulted for information on disease development, control, epidemiology, and non-microscopy based diagnostics. It is hoped that these bench manuals would be found to be very useful during the running of the regional teaching programme and thereafter in the participants' professional practice.
